Mālama & Mohala Mentors
Mālama Mentors partners with exceptional juniors and seniors in local high schools with in-need elementary school students. Mentors who are referred to the program by their counselors or teachers demonstrate compassion for others, commitment, and the desire to work with children. Once trained, mentors are carefully matched with a child with their partner elementary school and spend an hour a week giving their one-to-one undivided attention. Fostering a friendship through C.A.K.E.: compassion, attention, kindness, and encouragement—is our priority.
Mohala Mentors partners high-school aged mentors with middle school mentees. Mentorship sessions are once-a-week and last one hour long. During each session, mentors and mentees talk story, play icebreaker games, and do activities together. Each session focuses on strengthening a social and emotional competency outlined by the Collaboration of Academic, Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL).
